Arts and Crafts Childs Desk Stickley, (MPLS.) $350
Posted by on Jul 4, 2008
This desk was mfgd. by the Langsol-Fowler furniture company in Rochester NY.ca. 1900 They were on the cutting edge of Arts/Craft design in direct competition with G. Stickley & the Stickley Bros. as well as the Roycroft Group. You can see the desk has several possible adjustments. My 21 year old daughter used it in K thru second grade. We think her interest in architectural drafting was the result of drawing & coloring at this desk.
The wood finish has naturally darkened over the last 100 years But a close exam reveals the generous use of quarter-sawn oak. The brass pull on the under-seat drawer is engraved with the designers name and the L-F Co. name. Seat sz. 14X15
seat height 14.5″, present surface ht. 25″, seat back ht. 29″
